There's alot of chit chat around SYR over the last few years.
I invested back in 2016 at around $2. I then took the stairs to the top floor and subsequently the elevator to the basement. let's cut through some of the ongoing noise & distraction. I got in because of the imminent future trend from the Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) to Battery Electric Vehilces (BEV) not to mention every cordless drill, smart phone, lawn mower, whipper Snipper etc the list is endless. Nearly every battery operated device around the globe uses Li-ion battery tech. Graphite is the main component in these batteries. China has for years been by far the largest producer of Graphite. Then in 2014/15 along comes SYR who build and commission arguably the largest Graphite mine in the world with high quality graphite. On top of that SYR also develops their own Battery Amode Material (BAM) plant to Louisianna USA. Good moves at almost the right time. In the first year or two of production there were a few frustrating glitches which have now been largely overcome. As it turns out SYR probably over supplied the market somewhat, in order to lock in some contract pricing. The Chinese producers took advantage of some relatively lean prices for some relatively high quality graphite from SYR.
Fast forward to 2020. China's production is coming down gradually due to domestic issues. So, who will make the necessary inroads to become a major global producer of high quality spherical graphite? SYR has and continues to develope it's plan to be THAT producer.
As I mentioned a couple of weeks ago by using the Dolphin with a ball analogy. Over the past couple of years the Shorters have been the dolphins and SYR has been the ball. Why do they do it? Because they can. Will the ball passing game continue? Yes, for a while but all games have an end. Despite the current global challenges of Covid19, uncertainty and confidence questions good times will return. If SYR plans and develops properly, it should fulfil the role of major global supplier of high quality graphite...and our cars will be alot quieter, faster & greener.
And the dolphins will go in search of another ball.
