I've added a screen shot from a white paper on IoT protocols. I think you will find the protocols you are talking about are for terrestrial services. The protocol needs to connect a terrestrial device to a satellite network.
if you also read the investor presentation (pertinent page attached) that integration of IoT fldevices to satellite networks is complex. SAS want their devices to be plug and play making them way more usable. as such I would say they are developing their protocol for that. management could confirm.
So I'm interested in why you think this is a bad idea. and also why you mention terrestrial protocols as being applicable to satellite networks. just as food for thought or a potential red herring?
