Is it about how much gold you produce or how much money you make? The difference between price and cost Dec 08 to Dec 09 quarters was (1198-722) = $476/oz in 08 versus (1155-486 = $669/oz in 09.
The increase in the margin relative to Dec 08 is + $193/oz. That's a 40% increase. Wouldn't it be great if they made or exceeded theior revenue and profitability targets without having to produce as much gold - so it's still in the ground for later?
I know there's different ways of looking at it - just suggesting that oz produced isn't the start and end of the story. Just need that darn market to believe it!
