I was informed yesterday that many of the Ferry crews operating the Ferry's between Gladstone and Curtis will be laid off this month indicating that the need of daily commute between the main land and the Island may be reducing. I would presume that as the project nears completion Bechtel's need for "off Island accommodation" would dwindle to zero. When Bechtel cease to have need for the Decmil village, the one and only asset / income stream for Decmil, will be nothing more than a very costly white elephant. It would be interesting to know what Decmil's end game is for the village............. Anyone want to buy a second hand, poorly maintained accommodation village?
