These holes have mainly been drilled to find levels of formation underground. With the theory than if it's undulating( think hills but underground) with a covering of conglomerate which could host mafic gold. With ARV large tenement holdings I don't see it as a waste of money but rather well thought out.

If they had done seismic then that would have shown up the intrusion/s. they seemed to be surprised that they hit them.
