Hello Gold Bunny and other dear posters.
I started putting this post together earlier in the day to highlight some of the important features that may play a role with the advent of the forthcoming surveys, I refrained from posting for fear that it might be giving false hope to our readers. However, after reading the presentation release and the comments by Gold Bunny, Marxist, live eagle 7 and other excellent posts, I decided that for all it is worth it might be apt to put my two bob’s worth. So!
The Samson EM survey is ultimately what lit the anomalism in the Sirius camp and one of the identified anomalies is what led to the discovery of Nova in the Eye print.
A feature which is interesting at Mt. Alexander, indeed with most of the shallow EM anomalies discovered to date in the SGQ tenements, has shown very good correlation between the Field XRF techniques using the Olympus Innov‐X Spectrum Analyser and the assay results, despite the fact that very few assay results have been released from samples to date to really reach a convincing correlative conclusion. (Again, I am peeved that the laboratories are taking far too long to produce results, but, I hope there is a good reason for this delay).
It also seems that where penetrated, the massive sulphide high grades of mineralisation appear to correlate with the high Siemen values of the anomalies. Perhaps also implying that the EM conductors are caused dominantly by the presence of sulphides with high components of Nickel and Copper and very little or absence of impurities such as carbon or other elements causing or contributing strongly to the conductivity. This correlation although not as strong, has been observed elsewhere in the Yilgarn Nickel/Copper camps and also in Canada and with some Russian bodies.
Another feature is that we also see that the economic sulphides are not just confined to interstitial lacework or disseminated blebs, or grains within the ultramafic rocks. And whilst the massive sulphide intercepts appear to be thin; they are non the less present in massive form and in most cases surrounded by the halo sulphides, possibly implying that the Ni and Cu mineral droplets in the ultramafic soup did accumulate at the base of the ultramafic flows, dykes, vehicles if you like that hosted the mineralisation.
Structural disturbances I’m also sure played an important role in this story. This is a component that we know very little about from the released reports and perhaps the Samson and magnetic surveys will throw much needed light on the Mt. Alexander camp structural picture.
Finally, without opening a major technical discussion on ore genesis, for this reason I have to disagree with my very highly esteemed colleague Gold Bunny in saying I don’t think there is an if component. I suspect the massive sulphides will be at depth but size/volume of ultramafic intrusives and structural deformation will probably determine the size/volume of the deposition and accumulation of the mineralisation.
The Samson EM technique is very sensitive and we can only trust that it will refine existing signatures and define new strong large; as well as subtle signatures at depth.
Cheers to all,
helmenesh
