@sevo what does intersecting granite have to do with anything? granite is just as likely to be at the bottom of the paleochannel aquifer as any other rock type in wa. in fact i can name a couple of potential advantages of granite over other rocks, -- potential source of potassium, -- great source of quartz to fill the old stream or river and create an excellent coarse grained aquifer, -- and potentially fractured and hold appreciable amounts of brine.

for some interesting reading i found some openfile drilling reports on the eastern side of lake wells completed by so4 and mbs - both of these companies received exploration funding by the gswa. while the so4 drilling did hit paleochannel sands the geo that wrote the report said it was too fine to be a good aquifer likely due to fine grained source rocks.
