If you read the November 2018 Infill drilling announcement you will note that 1/8 holes hit granite without entering basal sands.
I presume the drill sites were chosen from seismic studies. It appears the valley is lined by granite.
I assume that each bore has a theoretical cone of drainage above it as well as 360 degrees of horizontal drainage around it. Presumably a bore is going to be more productive if it is located towards the centre of the valley (with a full cone) rather than at the edge.
What I am suggesting, based on the 1/8 hole failure, is that it is possible that some bores will almost certainly be placed in sub-optimal locations.
It may not matter but I think it does highlight a potential issue with paleovalleys. The worse scenario is that some production bores will underperform and need to be replaced. The other issue as mentioned before is confined space for on lake ponds. Again not a deal breaker but may limit expansion and off lake ponds are more expensive to construct.
You are more than welcome to disagree. This isn't a slight on the APC project. I hope it carries on moving in the right direction.
(That announcement also shows a nice photo of the coarse quartz basal sands).
