Burning the methane to generate electricity simply returns the carbon to the atmosphere. If they used pyrolysis (Hazer) to split the biogas into hydrogen and graphite, the process would be carbon negative, effectively removing carbon from the atmosphere as graphite, storing it as a saleable product.
