I think you have essentially spelt out what has happened here. They entered the energy retail market with the credentials of "green supply" and I think that they thought they could capitalise on those credentials by securing a slightly better margin. However the risks attached to the wholesale pricing are now too great to continue with what could become a very lopsided external/internal supply cost. They were unable to provide all of the electricity needed by their largest energy retail client anyway so they had to buy the extra required on the wholesale market. It does seem they are better jettisoning the risk as it would be very hard to manage the pricing just as the majors are finding. I am with most of the posters here in that they need to concentrate on their IP, their construction contracts and what they know. Maybe a little short term pain for some long term gain and it might be direction emanating from the Palisade engagement.
