    Special Report: SStock. head

Delorean’s engineering and infrastructure divisions have been keeping busy with progress made on multiple bioenergy projects across Australia and New Zealand.
The company’s Engineering Division is currently in the final stages of commissioning Blue Lake Milling’s anaerobic digestion facility at Bordertown, South Australia, before completing client training.

Under the $7.6m contract, Delorean Corporation (ASX: DEL) was responsible for the design, turnkey engineering, procurement and construction (EPC), commissioning, and operation of the bioenergy plant, which has started exporting power.

It is also progressing construction of the $10.1m Ecogas bioenergy plant in Reparoa, New Zealand that will take organic food waste from Auckland City Council collections and utilise the process of anaerobic digestion to create clean energy.
Slabs have been laid by the principal and are ready for installation of the anaerobic digestion tanks, while a number of Delorean-supplied infrastructure packages have been installed.
Those include the process separator and buffer tank, diesel tank, chiller plant and flare, and the gas analyser and air compressor enclosure.

There’s more work lined up for the Engineering Division, which was awarded Preferred Tenderer status for Yarra Valley Water’s second waste to energy plant at Lilydale, Victoria, in November.

    Infrastructure Division

Meanwhile, the company’s Infrastructure Division has progressed geotechnical and site accommodation upgrade work at the VIC1 Stanhope Bioenergy Plant in Victoria, after final council approval was granted during the current quarter.

Orders for long lead time process equipment have also been placed, and steel for the tanks has arrived on site.
It has also started preparation work at the SA1 project in Salisbury, South Australia, with civil and earthworks scheduled to commence during the first quarter of 2022 with a final investment decision expected in February.

Delorean is working with AGIG under the terms of their memorandum of understanding to facilitate the connection of biomethane into the gas network at this site, and for AGIG to be an underlying customer for the biomethane.

Additionally, planning has started on an initial feasibility study to develop, construct, and operate anaerobic digestion plants at Brickworks’ Horsley Park and Berrima sites in New South Wales.

Discussions are also underway with AGIG for mains gas pipeline connection for the QLD1 bioenergy project where a final investment decision is expected in late 2022 with operations anticipated to start early 2024.

    Management team strengthened

Accompanying its busy run of operational news flow, Delorean has also strengthened its executive team with the appointment of Martin Lodge as its new Chief Operating Officer to focus on operational delivery of its projects.
Lodge has 35 years’ experience in engineering, finance, operations, and general management including eight years in the Western Australian State Government as a Senior Executive, directing major projects and General Manager Strategic Projects.
Prior to this, Lodge also operated his own project and risk management business operating across Asia and Australia.
