Wrong Blitz, the grey material is schist and it is primarily a dust coating created during blasting. In underground mining there is more emphasis on dust control for occupational health and safety reasons. Accordingly all ore and waste is thoroughly watered prior to mucking. In the open pit it will be necessary to thoroughly water the blasted ore so that the ore is not covered in host rock dust and more readily identifiable.
