This would have to be up there for an award of stupidity...The 22kv Transformer is stepped down to a nominal voltage 3 phase 415Volt line voltage.

The higher voltage decreases voltage drop over long distances before being stepped down to the nominal voltage at the property. Gen sets do not need to supply 22Kv as they have no long-distance voltage drop to be concerned by...They feed the Switchboard at 415 Volts to match the stepped-down voltage.

The gen-sets are connected via a change-over switch, mechanical or auto, at a nominal voltage of 415V line or 230V load voltage...As long as the phase rotation is sequenced to match the supply Transformer and vector groups the same, it's a simple connection...Through the commissioning stage of the front end, the correct-sized genset only needs to have the capacity of a combined motor group that may need to run at a single point in time...It could have a maximum demand of 1000Amps for the complete system but only require a fraction of this to test run motors individually...
