I think there is a word missing (should read "kaum besser laufen", not "kaum laufen", that's not something you'd say in German) in the German original and hence the translation went wrong. The whole paragraph after this implies that the timing is good. I'm pretty sure it should read "In terms of timing, however, things could hardly go better..."
