Extending a moratorium on conventional gas extraction is social and economic vandalism . It is a clean source of power that has been extracted for decades without causing any enviromental damage. The only people that want it banned are the anti fossil fuel lobby via lock the gate . Lock the gate is a dishonest organization as they claim to only be opposed to fracking yet at no time during their campaign did they differienciate between fracking and conventional gas extraction. This dishonesty plus a state govt that has an anti fossil fuel ideology has wrongly scared the public into thinking that gas extraction is evil. The public deserve the truth and the truth is that gas extraction will provide jobs and cheaper power bills. Victoria should be an industrial powerhouse fulled by natural gas. . The latrobe Valley should be booming rather than becoming a bigger basket case. Portland should be the jewel of the southwest rather than a scared and frightened community. There is no downside ."
