Yes, can happen but for every one example you bring where the explorer hit the target with the first hole, I'll give 50 where they did not.
Looking where he is drilling makes sense and now it is up to the ground and lot of luck.

I'll speculate there is at least one above average hole and that's the one we're waiting on, also, SP move on the 14th November likely not coincidence.
