background gold in the earth is 1-2 parts per billion which is 0.000002 g/t.
0.5 g/t is very significant relative to background. It’s definitive that something has concentrated gold here beyond background. But that’s not where it ends.
The next step is to work out what type of deposit it is. MOHO seem to think they are in the tail of a porphyry system which are intrusive disseminated forms of mineralisation. 0.5g/t can be comfortably economic in porphyry deposits due to bulk tonnage.
in any case, given the presence of some higher grade intercepts, further exploration is warranted in my opinion. we need more knowledge about the geology before we can write Burracoppin off.
