I wonder if one advantage of becoming the sole distributor (in a practical if not in a legal sense) is to provide the opportunity to sign up new customers (particularly enterprise customers) which they did not previously have a relationship with and can now develop a relationship and so cross sell to.
in other words, the benefit may not only be in increasing revenues in the short-term but building up further penetration into the enterprise / business market which in addition to being profitable supports longer term growth.
I can imagine a business buying software would prefer to deal with a single distributor particularly if they are good value, competent, and trustworthy.
in summary, this could be a competitor threat to other large distributors in addition to being profitable for ddr.
just some thoughts and speculations.
