But they gave Digger of the Year to a Cambodian gold mine.
I guess we’ll get it next year (unless the coffee chats lead to a dinner date) but in the meantime I’m kind of peeved. :/
And it seems Simon’s ‘I like coffee chats’ thing has gone viral!
Mining News picked it up too…

AFR yesterday said Red 5 is still on the acquisition trail with $600m to be burning a hole in its’ pocket …
Do that lot also ‘like coffee’?
And The West has pasted several photos of the Spartan cycle chariots (although none outside the D&D coffee stop);

A new three-wheeled leg-powered mode of transport was introduced to Australia’s biggest mining forum this year, with plenty of delegates catching rides on the streets of Kalgoorlie-Boulder.
Bringing the tricycles to the 2024 Diggers & Dealers Mining Forum was the brainchild of WA mining company Spartan Resources.
General manager Nicholas Jolly said the transport was a way to offer something “different” and “fun” to delegates at the conference.
“I don’t think I’ve ever seen them at Diggers & Dealers, and it’s been a great way to get people to and from the event,” he said.

“I think everyone gets really sore feet standing around and talking all day so it gives you a chance to just sit there even if you’re going around the corner.
“The guys are playing music, you can choose your own music, and just get to the pubs and get to the restaurants and then back again.
“The feedback has been really positive so a lot of highlights for a lot of people.”
The tricycles served as transport for attendees at Spartan Resources’ breakfast event at the Kalgoorlie Hotel where orebody from its Dalgaranga gold project near Mt Magnet was on display.
The unique initiative was supported by Goldfields drilling company Topdrill, with managing director and founder Tim Topham excited to bring the “interesting” mode of transport to the forum.
Mr Topham and Mr Jolly confirmed they would be open to making the bikes a feature at future Diggers & Dealers forums.
