I forgot to add historical workings tend to be confined to orebody. As the old timers followed the seam or had less capacity to remove dirt.
Hence occurrence of voids less likely to restrict pit design feature/infrastructure like ramps/ haul roads.
In my experience voids basically represent holes in the resource, that are are accounted for in modelling.
