100% Agree with you Vintage.

Maybe the term “Helicopter Parenting” is a thing in what you are saying, you see it to the point of ridiculous & I think it’s a big factor in childhood anxiety. They need to be allowed to get dirty, fall over on their own, learn their own risk factor taking (within reason & education). Otherwise we haven’t done our job properly as parents!

Also as young Adults to learn to manage on their own first, not expect handouts or bailouts…have to grow a set when times get tough, work hard. Of course as a parent you are always there, doesn’t mean you don’t care or worry about your kids, but damn, once they decide to climb off the ‘apron strings’ or out of ‘the nest’ they soon learn what independence is all about. It is great to see them negotiating life challenges, believe me I get the phone calls!

Doesn’t hurt to help out, but I totally get what you are saying about narcissism & an ‘expected lifestyle’ & once again that has a lot to do with SM influence on SM I think & creating some kind of ridiculous ‘normality’. I think Ed is thinking along the same lines I do, a surprise later down the track. I didn’t find your post offensive at all.
