DIRECTOR: ANB: Retirement of Norman Geary

ANZ Bank New Zealand Limited (ANZ NZ) announced today that Norman Geary, an
independent non-executive director of the Board, will formally retire on 30
September 2013.

Previously a director of The National Bank, Mr Geary continued to serve as a
director on the Board following the purchase of the bank by ANZ in 2003.

As announced on 11 March 2013, Joan Withers commenced as a Director on 1 July
2013.

Other ANZ NZ Directors are chairman John Judge, Tony Carter, ANZ NZ CEO David
Hisco, ANZ Group CEO Mike Smith and ANZ Group CFO Shayne Elliott.
