I agree wholeheartedly with Bellas!
Historically my sentiments towards rewarding executives of any Company have been overly soft. I always took the view that "well, I am happy to support them providing I benefit as well". Fifty years in the stock market has finally focussed my attention to the opportunism that prevails.... and ALWAYS at a cost to the shareholder..... dilution. These days I simply take the time to think back to the RISK factor involved whilst I hold shares. My choice, I know. It does get under my skin that the already well remunerated Personnel do not have to bear a similar risk..... the money rachet just turns in their favour.
Bellas has already given his reasons for baulking at this latest proposal..... and I agree with all of them.
I have been a shareholder for approximately 6-7 years. My money just replaced the shareholder from whom I purchsed my shares.... and so on.... all the way back to the bravehearts who tipped in the seed capital. I have taken up my maximum entitlement in each of the Capital raisings.... again my money contributed towards the continuation of the Company.
I have never been paid.
If the original remuneration packages were on the lean side and included KPIs in relation to rewards for share price escalation at various levels.... I would have no qualms.
However, a significant chunk of risk has been diluted.... and finally we appear on the cusp of finally seeing shareholders rewarded for many years of support and opportunity cost.
I am not hard to get along with, but I do really get sick of always being on the sidelines watching opportunism kick in.... and it will cost me in real dollars .... simply by diluting my rewards, if they do eventuate.
I was once a shareholder of a penny dreadful whose Directors gave themselves options ranging from 50 million to 100 million.... exercisable at a price of 3 cents.... with a potential for the Directors to cash in amounts expected to reach $10 million.
It didn't work out.... the shares crashed.... I got torched.... the Directors got nothing.... NOR DID THEY LOSE ANYTHING!!!
I would be far more impressed to read a "Change of Holding Notice" showing Directors" confidence in their efforts by BUYING shares on the open market.
For me it simply doesn't cut it any more thinking "Oh well they can only win if I do to".
I agree wholeheartedly with Bellas! Historically my sentiments...
