Why not have appointed such a guy as an Executive Director to the board? If they're serious about utilising his skillset why another non-exec director. Doesn't the co have enough of them already? Sorry, but looks like "optics" at work to me.... and just another mouth to feed. Thats just my opinion and I hope I am wrong!
