CSL have been in talks with Vifor since March & clearly now it’s getting serious to be all over the media.
The interesting thing for us is that it is largely a CKD asset and I guess also an Australian multi-national pharma. If this goes through, it will be the largest acquisition that CSL has made. Obviously CSL see value in the CKD/DKD space.
It’s interesting Dr Elliot (CSL) has taken a position on our board at this point in time, & may just be coincidence.
Considering CSL have been in talks with Vifor for such a length of time, Vifor’s deal with Janssen to market Invokana in the USA, and again what Richard referenced in the AGM about the importance to the FDA of companion diagnostics in drug treatments (SGLT2i), who knows? Vifor are kidney disease specialists after all.
It is just some food for thought, but there is no denying there are some interesting connections there when you join the dots.
