DIRECTOR: LIC: New Directors elected to the LIC Board
David Jenson and Gray Baldwin have been confirmed as the new LIC Board
Directors for the Midland region.
The election, which saw a record nine candidates, attracted one of the
highest voter turnouts with 25% of eligible shareholders electing to vote.
In previous years the voter turnout has been around 10%.
Based in Tauranga David Jensen and his family milk 700 KiwiCross cows along
with 16 hectares of kiwifruit and avocados.
Jensen is currently a Director for Farmlands Trading Society and Satara
Limited. He has a B.AgSc. from Massey University and worked as a NZ Dairy
Board Consulting Officer in Morrinsville and Canterbury. In more recent
years he has been an LIC Councillor and Regional Director for BOP, past NZ
Dairy Group Councillor, and a breeder of LIC bulls with Puketiro Frostman
which was a member of the Friesian Premier Sires team for 3 years. He
participated in the Fonterra Governance Development Program.
Gray Baldwin and his wife, Marilyn, farm 410 cows at Putaruru with the help
of sharemilkers. They were Supreme Winners of the Ballance Farm Environment
Award in 2009.
Baldwin is a Director of Ballance Agri-Nutrients Limited, Trinity Lands
Limited and Chairman of Regen Limited, a Wellington based effluent technology
Company.
Amongst his career highlights, Baldwin lists Marketing Manager, BNZ
Agribusiness, 1995-2000, General Manager Marketing and Distribution for
Ballance Agri-Nutrients, 2000-2007 and his current role working with 16
sharemilkers as supervisor of Carter Holt Harvey Farms in Tokoroa.
He has a M.Agr.Sc (Hons) and has completed the Certificate in Company
Direction with the Institute of Directors and the Fonterra Governance
Programme.
Both new Directors are long-time shareholders and passionate advocates of
LIC. Their appointments take effect from 1 June 2012.
