General investor sentiment hasn't been good for a long while so I'm not surprised the kneejerk reaction to this is a negative one.
Final notice was given at least two months ago and website is already updated with the information. It was obviously a planned departure (not sure whether the company let him go or he decided to go himself) but either way doesn't take much to make disillusioned shareholders react badly.
The guy is also 65 (although Ben himself is ~69)
