I'm a product manager who also performs iterative development as part of my job. The whole point of iterative development is to build features, test whether the concept worked, learn from it and then build further on the idea or adjust. To do this you need a quick feedback loop so if you're building the wrong thing you find out quickly and haven't wasted too much time or money.

My concern is for 4DS the feedback loop is months - the time it takes for imec to produce a new set of wafers, put it on the memory platform, ship it to the US, etc etc. If they've screwed up this iteration - BAM - another 6 months.

Is this why Wilbert jumped ship? His options expire in 2025, did he think the risk/reward of waiting around that long not worth it?

For me - this has always been an all or nothing investment and I don't have a huge amount invested. I'll continue to hold on the chance that the next lot comes back and actually works.
