this seems a decent deal to me at a quick glance.
It releases capital, at a punchy valuation, which would not have been forthcoming near-term under a de-merger.
And Ares can really make something out of this business given they are largely a debt shop, and have slick distribution.
So it's good for both parties.
it will also go part of the way to allowing both businesses to be very well setup upon demerger in terms of their balance sheet.
