This is the key. A capital raising like many reits did in the GFC will very quickly destroy shareholder value. I just don't see that playing out tho. The GFC had a total freeze on credit and the whole system temporarily melted down. I think the reit (and property) sector will see some pain but nothing like the GFC.
I remember I held ABP and it went from $1.20 to around .09c in a matter of weeks (from memory).
I'm tempted to pick up some more COF today. It is currently only 2% of my portfolio.
