well, in US quarterly dividend is very normal for listed companies and all those comes out at the time company announce their financial results. So to say internal timing isn't really valid as companies far gibber and much more complex accounting needs issue quarterly results and dividend at the same time.
announcing together makes more sense as it gives complete pictures of their quarterly performance,sure you can disagree but that is the fact that knowing everything on one day with full report is more responsible and sensible thing to do in my opinion.
unfortunately on ASX quarterly dividend or reporting isn't mandatory (except for companies that issue 4c), which is very poor practices adopted by ASX.
