They don't do it for the owners, as an owner I'd only care if I was involved in day to day operations. These days I barely look into the financial reports, just look at the key takeaways and adjustments to strategy, maybe once every 5 years I'll do a proper analysis... it's just too much work for no benefit... there's just too many smart people around and I'd rather use my energy for pleasure.
They do the quarterly pressos for the broker and banker type, and they make coin on commissions by peddling stock onto their clients... good story, good numbers, they'll pump up the price... holes in the story, numbers missed, they'll dump the stock to anyone waiting in the queue. I generally feel out of place, there's not much to say... good job! keep doing what you're doing! oh no profits fell by 10% this year! that's it I want heads to roll!
I do enjoy the occasional visit to the AGMs on companies run for pennies. They're fun!
