If you look at charts of many ASX stocks you'll see/notice that over time about 93% of all "open gaps" close. It is a very high ratio so reason why it's common in technical analysis to trade "gaps" per say.
I also look at many cryptocurrency price charts and when you zoom in on 1 minute chart you'll see many "open gaps" and sure enough they seem to always close so that's enough evidence for me to implement it in my own trading strategy.
