The Australian Rail Track Corporation had a four day shutdown of the Moree line in northwest NSW last week (finishing IIRC on 20 November 2020) for maintenance (south of Narrabri, the line is heavily used by coal trains, and there's cotton and timber exports as well by rail) that made some logistics challenging, so great to see a ship was loaded at Carrington (Newcastle NSW).
It won't be the last one in 2020-21.
This week there are also at least five grain trains through Hamilton (Vic) to Portland (Vic), a deep water port. I am told there was just one grain train in mid-2020 on this line but that was the only one for two years, so things are also looking up in Victoria. Grain is handled shipping-wise in Victoria at Geelong, Melbourne and Portland. The latter celebrated its 60th birthday this year so a good present.
