Whisky, you may be right, but if so this explanation should be clearly set out in the announcement so that the board is accountable to it. It should not be left for posts and speculation on HC. Whether "obvious" or not, there are in fact other possibilities. The absence of specific reporting around such an important issue has lead to negative speculation and oversell imho. In turn, this volatility in sp generates investor caution and therefore a lower sp than deserved. I feel this is unnecessary, especially where (as you point out) GRR is in such a good position.
