There are huge issues in regards to vertically integrated insurers and other service providers , repairers , advisors and strata managers etc however it is mostly about disclosure and doubling up etc . There is obvious fraud by some providers charging but not actually providing service or packaging unnecessary costly services and telling clients they are essential. ABC from what I have read has tried to be dramatic and try and oblige the issuing company to inform end client who they never directly deal with. The in between companies and brokers have that job. Steadfast being vertically integrated does IMO have some responsibility where they are the full provider from end to end. . Bottom line strata needs serious regulation and enforcement with sharks at every level getting culled. The killer for Steadfast related companies is the possible collusion and bias regardless of anything they say they have implemented and lack of interest from ACCC . Like all business it is about the upsell and creating ongoing business but company should ensure suitable chinese walls and structures are in place and that suitable disclosures are made at every level. Many strata commitees are frankly thick as bricks and very uninterested so no surprise some will have been taken advantage of especially in regards to strata managers and developers. Not a simple or quick fix but a warning shot over bow of complete industry and the toothless regulators .
