Dividends are tangible, that is usable now!
If anything, I’m not even in favour of the forced saving of my interim dividend imputation credit to the govt.
The BB influence on the retained shares value future price relies on the Yo-yo theory.
There are other, not normally heard reasons for BB’s, board and management want to dump some shares or to defer their tax obligations.
The latter gives them better control from a taxation point of view! Amounts to self interest or taking care of the T20 rung.
If they had approved a once in a life time dividends it possibly would have caused them a huge tax burden!
