You will be up for tax on the dividends paid if you have held past ex-div date. Whether or not selling before they go ex-dividend (when the SP should be div +franking credit higher) is good depends on several things, for example, if you have held them over a year tax on capital gains will be half the normal rate, but there will be price movements beyond your control that might affect things as well.
