To be fair, in hindsight what you originally proposed would have worked. You could have sold yesterday at $4.77 and repurchased at $4.57 today. Then watched it return to $4.70 at close today. It would have resulted in a net gain of 33 cents, versus the 14 cents obtained by holding for the dividend.
Too stressful for me to take the risk personally, but I'm sure someone did it.
