Each morning you see the market maker place buys and sells before each pre opening auction- this helps with liquidity.

This morning there were 9 sell orders of 7 050 shares each from 4.40 to 4.32. Presumably these were the work of the market maker. There were not the usual market maker buys and sells.

I have never noticed this before. I will take notice with future ex-dividend stocks if this is something that the market maker does. We know that SPs fall on going ex-dividend- but I did not think that the market maker helped with this.
