STO got the Alaskan assets when they merged with Oil Search.
Oil Search had bought into Alaska from (I think, Bill Armstrong) who was a wild catter up there.
I seem to recall that Armstrong was from Denver.
The buy in by OSH was the reason I bought a small position in OSH & now have shares in STO.
Alaska is a pretty big operation for an Australian company (compared to the US majors) and I think that STO have a couple of hundred people on the ground up there.
I can't recall whether Armstrong still has a minor interest in it but he may have.
I'm glad that STO & OSH merged because despite OSH's size at the time, it needs a $25 Billion mover behind it.
