It takes 2 days for a trade to show up on the share register. If someone buys on ex-dividend date, in this case the 14th, then they will show up on the share register as owning the shares on the 16th which is the day after the record date (the 15th).
The whole concept of the ex-dividend date was created to help people realize shares are trading EX the dividend (i.e. you don't get the dividend) on that date.
YAL goes ex-dividend on the 14th so if you buy on that date you are buying the shares excluding the dividend.
