no, you are wrong, you need to hold your shares till 10:00am on ex-day, after that you can do what ever you like with your shares, the buyers on ex-day gets nothing except cheaper shares than the day before ( usually is the case). that's the reason why WDS dropped more than 7.5% yesterday, it was ex-day, and I've sold OSH on ex-day and received divi.
