Talking about "joining the dots"... how about this senario.
Santos are in partnership with JERA, Tokyo Gas & INPEX in one of the worlds largest CCS projects in Northern Australia.

These companies may be looking for other Australian projects to utilise their CCS Australian offsets. This may be the reason for a Santos u-turn on the bedout and Dorado to primarily focus on Gas. Their Japanese partners may have shown interest in the Santos 20-30% share of divestment only if they focus more on the Gas. They may also require a higher stake to make it worthwhile so may also be looking at CVN.
This might explain KG statement "better outcome for all parties"
It may also explain the Collins boys stake in CVN..as i doubt they would wait more than 3 years for a return on their $23mil.
If the next drilling program emphasises more Gas exploration it may be telling as KG also stated "we believe the basin if full of Gas"
Anyway worth considering i think.
