Banks could have done APT by themselves.
Bunnings could have done Amazon by themselves.
Taxi industry could have done Uber by themsleves. ( Do you know Maquarie bank once wanted to get big time into Australian taxi industry )
Macdonads could have done Uber, deliveroo etc delivery services.
Ford, Toyota could have done Tesla.
List goes on and on. Matter of having the idea and running with it. Some times big ones dont get in due to regulations. Big one always buy into when something is proven, thus avoiding trial/error etc.
By the way most companies close or become absolete over long periods. It is up to you to be in it at the right time and enjoy.
Westfiled promoters sold out.
News paper Moguls got out. So on and so on.
