I doubt your theory is correct, what you're implying is criminal activity and a jailable offence as it's insider trading.
Personally I think it's most likely a combination of large holders derisking their existing holding to free carry and price action. Drill news is probably next month so price is naturally going to fall in between news events.
Anyone that knows how to chart properly can see where it's probably going to find support.
