not necessarily. It varies a lot, some will halt but most will just announce before open. A halt is often more effective for gaining investor attention but, in my experience, isnt necessary for a drill result announcement. More commonly you see a halt for a capital raise, acquisition or any other transaction which has a risk of impacting the share price if leaked. The difference is that if someone posts on a forum that great results are coming monday, most people would ignore it. But if a company is about to announce they are being acquired, for example, and that leaks, it is a more legitimate threat to the ASX rules so a halt is better to be safe.
