I agree why I have a foot in both camps - but technology ---- changes in the socio -economic -political landscape and the cost equation will ensure eventually that electrification in all its many variances will be of great benefit to mankind. As for renewables same dog same leg action - the UK now embracing nuclear even to producing their own fuel and the entire globe going nuclear whilst Blackout Bowen and Lights out Lily in Victoria lead us over the energy cliff. Hang in there mate -I just completed a trip to Yalyirimbi 200 km north -west of Alice Springs and bitumen all the way up the Tanami Road to within a short distance of my new U tenement. That's progress that the old fella appreciated -when the Tanami Road is all sealed with open up large tracts of land in the NT and WA.
