It depends on who they use and how the data is processed. The new, high-tech version of passive seismic is Fleet Space Technologies but the underlying technology has existed for some time. While the technology has existed for some time, I suspect the telco's shift from 3G to 4G, 5G and 6G will have improved the cost, availability and precision of the timing crystals used. This would make a high precision sensor cheaper to make and presumably also make them more effective because the time gap between different passive seismic waves hitting would be more accurately measured at the different sites.

As Ruperton notes, it can be with "a matter of days" but it will depend on provider. One of the advantages Fleet Space's satellite collection of the seismic data is they note gaining a real-time view of the data. That would mean you know when you have enough good data to shift the sensors to a new location. If you were using a place, leave, collect system you would most likely leave the sensors down for a longer period in each location to ensure they have collected a robust variety of passive seismic signals. Of course having an active drill program may help create more seismic noise!!

Core Technologies was one of the first lithium companies to use it. Atlantic did a trial but decided not to continue as they were having sufficient success with their existing techniques and processes. The firs commentary Core has provided was page 6 of its 1 August 2022 BP33 update.
