That's not correct at all. As a sp increases, the volatility always decreases if the climb is sustainable. As a stock becomes much larger, it becomes much more stable due to increased liquidity (i.e. exiting holders don't have to dump into a collapsing bidding line up).
One exception is when the sp rises extremely rapidly. There is heightened fear of a fall and thus panic can spread easily and quickly. That's what we're seeing now.
If you are in a $500m mc stock, then you won't see a 20%, let alone 30% fall, unless there is an unfolding disaster (which management may or may not have disclosed).
Given the ultra rapid rise in this sp, there will be major volatility for a while yet.
